Clear Hydrants, Clear Community Responsibility
It’s Not “Your Neighbor’s” Fire Hydrant
Fire hydrants located in your neighborhood serve the entire neighborhood—not just the property they sit in front of. If you notice a hydrant that has not been shoveled out, please consider working together with your neighbors to clear it.
A clear hydrant benefits everyone. While a fire can occur anywhere, the likelihood of a fire happening in the vicinity of a hydrant is far greater than only at the property where it is located. Quick access to hydrants can make a critical difference in an emergency.
Clearing fire hydrants is not the responsibility of volunteer firefighters or Township employees during or after a snowstorm. It is a shared community responsibility.
Please help keep hydrants accessible—your efforts could help protect lives and property.
