Recycling Services - Residential

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania mandates recycling through Act 101 of 1988. Hanover Township's Ordinance 07-10 adopted July 24, 2007 establishes the recycling requirements in the Township.  Hanover Township strives to provide a simple, yet efficient, recycling program for its residents.  With your recycling efforts we as a Township can conserve our natural resources, save landfill space, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, save energy, and help Pennsylvania's economy.

Since 1995, residents have recycled 11,782.2 tons and businesses have recycled 52,704.6 tons.

Please Recycle Today for a Better Tomorrow!

Info & Tips

Recyclable materials are to be placed in a rigid plastic, metal or fiberglass container with handles and a capacity no greater than 35 gallons, weighing no more than 60 pounds when full.  Recycling containers ($12.00) and lids ($5.00) may be purchased at the Township office between the hours of 8am and 4pm Monday-Friday.   Recyclable materials are collected with your trash every other Tuesday or Thursday depending upon street location.   Please click here to view the April 2011 - March 2012 Trash and Recycling Calendar for collection days.

Please do not put plastic bags in your recycling container.

Items containing freon such as refrigerators, air conditioners, etc. need to be handled differently.  A plumber needs to be contacted for removal of freon, and a special tag needs to be applied at which time the item may be placed curbside.
